Taylor Wimpey’s £60 million regeneration of the 220-acre former Cadbury factory and grounds on the outskirts of Bristol attracted detailed political scrutiny and assessment. Politicians at Town, District and County level were closely involved in all of the design stages and Consensus played a lead role in encouraging local residents to take an active part in communicating their views and aspirations.
Consensus was responsible for composing and managing a week-long series of themed design workshops each addressing a specific aspect of the development. The results were then presented to the council and community via focus-group briefings and two 3-day public exhibitions in the centre of Keynsham.
Consultation workshops: Councillors, local residents and planning specialists worked together to create the masterplan’s core principles.
Community exhibition: Over 1000 people visited the masterplan exhibition.
