A four-year joint-venture between Cornwall Council, Galliford Try Partnerships and LiveWest to deliver affordable housing and open-market homes on nine council-owned sites across the county. Receipts paid to Cornwall Council for sites were ring-fenced to purchase additional land in locations where development opportunities, particularly for affordable housing - were limited. Individual site capacity varied from just a dozen to over 130 units.
Cornwall Council was determined throughout the planning stages to secure local support interest and support for each development. Consensus worked closely with the joint-venture project team on encouraging local participation in the design process. This included designing and launching interactive project websites, publishing information newsletters, close engagement with councillors and communities, convening design workshops and working closely with nearest neighbours on a one-to-one basis as needed.

“I am delighted that the Homes for Cornwall project is progressing so positively. The delivery of housing and, in particular affordable housing to meet local housing need is a key priority of the Council.”
